Thoroughbred Charities of America ("TCA"), maintains the following mission:

"To provide a better life for Thoroughbreds, both during and
after their racing careers by supporting retirement, rescue and
research and by helping the people who work with them."

This mission guides us to grant to the following five sectors of non-profits:

TCA is a fund raising organization which follows a "United Way" methodology, by providing the Thoroughbred Industry and supporters a way to give to one entity which then distributes annual grants to hundreds of non-profits within our mission.

TCA differs significantly from most multimillion-dollar fund raising organizations by one major factor.  With the exception of one paid employee, TCA is administered entirely by unpaid volunteers, which allows us to grant over 93 cents of every $1 raised each year.

Our Board of Directors consists of some of the most knowledgeable and respected people in the Thoroughbred Industry and they are very proactive in TCA fund raising and grant giving activities.

TCA has granted more than $12 million over the past 16 years, to nearly 200 organizations in 35 states.  In addition to regular donations, we also maintain an endowment fund, which will ensure continuity of the annual funding so vital to our grantees.

TCA is an affiliate of Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA)
