Dec. 6, 2007-Keeneland's Entertainment Center was the epicenter of Thoroughbred activity on November 30th , for the 18 th Annual Thoroughbred Charities of America (“TCA”) Stallion Season and Art Auction. The evening brought together many leaders of the industry as well as dozens of central Kentucky 's key farms.
The live auction was preceded by a 3-day telephone auction which had already sold 250 stallion seasons. Twenty six premier seasons were sold in the live auction conducted by Fasig Tipton auctioneers. Included in the live auction were other items of interest, including a sketch by Andre Pater which sold for $31,000 to Roy and Gretchen Jackson, a Porsche 2 year lease which sold for $33,000 to David Campbell and a World Cup trip to Dubai which sold for $25,000 to George and Mary Reeb.
Included in the live auction of seasons were breedings to Street Sense, Hard Spun, Ghostzapper and El Prado. The highest price season sold was an Unbridled's Song no guarantee season which sold for $115,000 to Fred Hertrich. Bill Casner received the TCA Charity Leadership Award and Priscilla Clark received the TCA Industry Service Award.
The event raised $2.1 million bringing the Thoroughbred Charities fund raising total to over $16,000,000 since its inception. TCA supports over 200 Thoroughbred Industry-related charities and distributes 94 cents of every dollar raised.
