Thoroughbred Charities of America Board Approves $1,564,400 in Grants for 2007

June 7, 2007-At it's annual board meeting on June 2, 2007, Thoroughbred Charities of America (“TCA”) approved grants of $1,564,400 to 149 non-profits in the charitable work of Thoroughbred Rescue, Research, Backstretch, Education and Therapeutic Riding, in 28 states.

With an eye toward the future, $100,000 was added to the TCA endowment fund, to ensure a steady grant flow. An additional $75,000 fund was retained for emergency grants toward those suffering from hurricane and fire damage, drought and various equine crises.

TCA, the “ United Way ” of the Thoroughbred industry, raises funds primarily from it's stallion season and art auction each year, which this year is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 30, 2007 at Keeneland Entertainment Center .

“The strong support from the industry in the donation and purchase of the stallion seasons, has enabled TCA to make grants of more than $15,000,000 to nearly 200 organizations in the Thoroughbred industry over the past 17 years” said Herb Moelis, President of TCA.
