EQUINE ADVOCATES' SEVENTH ANNUAL AWARDS DINNER & CHARITY AUCTION, THURSDAY, JULY 31

GLADYS KNIGHT TO PERFORM

 

Saratoga Springs , NY : In what promises to be one of the most anticipated events of the 2008

Saratoga racing and social season , Equine Advocates will hold its Seventh Annual Awards

Dinner & Charity Auction on Thursday, July 31 st . There will be several exciting new elements

to this year's benefit, including a second award and a different venue. It will be held this

year at the New Stonebridge Farm at Clark Road which is just a short distance from where

the previous six events took place and easier to get to from the center of Saratoga .

Equine veterinary surgeon, Dr. Patricia Hogan will receive the Equine Advocates Safe Home Equine Protection Award for testifying before Congress in 2006 in support of H.R. 503, the House version of The American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act , banning the slaughter of horses for human consumption.

 

Horse owner, Virginia Kraft Payson will become the first recipient of the Ellen & Herbert

Moelis Equine Savior Award for Philanthropy ; Mrs. Payson has been a generous and

long time contributor of causes and organizations which benefit horses. The Moelis' founded

the Thoroughbred Charities of America , a foundation which raises over $2 million annually

for equine-related organizations and institutions, including horse rescue groups and

veterinary hospitals. They were also the very first honorees of this event back in 2002.

This award in their name is another way to express gratitude to these two outstanding

individuals who have done so much to help horses and the people who work on their behalf.

 

The legendary Gladys Knight, who has been performing to sell-out crowds all across the country,

will entertain guests with a roster of her timeless hits. Limited tickets at $300 per person will
