Thoroughbred Charities of America held its annual golf tournament on Tuesday, August 16,2005 at the Saratoga National Golf Club in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. The event raised $220,000 and was attended by 110 golfers with a total of 300 guests attending the evening's festivities. The day included lunch, the horse-race format golf scramble, cocktail party, dinner, live auction of unique items and Las Vegas Night, with revelers playing for Thoroughbred causes until almost midnight.
TCA Executive Director Liz Harris said they could not have put on the event without key sponsors Brushwood Stable, Saratoga Spring Water, DeCrescente Distributing, Morgan Stanley, Fasig-Tipton and the event's chairperson and TCA Director, Robin Malatino.
The winner of the tournament was the “Old Dodge” foursome of Mark Cheney, Roger Horgan, Tom Walsh and Chip Taylor. Second place went to “Easy Goer” with Bob Howard, Larry Hooker, Tony D'Ambro and Bob Boden. Participating golfers included Tim Smith, Gary Biszantz, Shug McGaughey, Patrick Biancone, Chester Broman, Robert Clay, Tony Malatino, Jack Knowlton and TCA Director, Bob Manfuso and TCA Founder and President, Herb Moelis.
Last December at it's primary fundraiser, “The TCA Annual Stallion Season and Art Auction”, TCA grossed over $1.9 million, with 90 Thoroughbred farms participating. This year's Stallion Season Auction is slated for Friday, December 1, 2006 at The Keeneland Entertainment Center in Lexington, Kentucky. |
