Thoroughbred Charities of America

Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA) maintains the following mission:

"To provide a better life for Thoroughbreds, both during and after their racing careers by supporting retirement, rescue and research and by helping the people who work with them."

This mission guides us to grant to the following five sectors of non-profits:

•		Thoroughbred rescue, rehabilitation, retraining, adoption, retirement and euthanasia
•		Backstretch workers including disabled jockeys, farm and track employees with little or no medical coverage and child care for them while working
•		Equine educational organizations including those who provide equine-based scholarships and those who utilize Thoroughbreds in their educational programs
•		Therapeutic riding programs which include the use of Thoroughbreds in their programs
•		Research into equine diseases and ailments

TCA Grants:

• Over 96 cents of every $1 raised each year.

• More than $16 million over the past 19 years, to over 200 organizations in 36 states.

TCA is a fund raising organization which follows a "United Way" methodology, by providing the Thoroughbred Industry and supporters
a way to give to one entity which then distributes annual grants to hundreds of non-profits within our mission.

TCA differs significantly from most multimillion-dollar fund raising organizations by one major factor: TCA has only one paid employee, the remaining is administered
entirely by unpaid volunteers, which allows us to grant over 96 cents of every $1 raised each year. View our 990 Form for FYE June 30, 2008.

Our Board of Directors consists of some of the most knowledgeable and respected people
in the Thoroughbred Industry who are very proactive in TCA fund raising and grant giving activities.

In addition to regular donations, TCA also maintains an endowment fund, to ensure continuity of the annual funding.
